With winter fast approaching, your feline floor squatter deserves a place to warm her toes. K& H Manufacturing offers several reasonably priced varieties of heated cat beds, mats and bed warmers. For cats that have a hard time with jumping or just simple movement either from arthritis, past trauma or other health issues, you can take comfort in the fact that they can remain low to the ground and still keep warm.

For one of my cats whose movement is hampered by past abuse, the Thermo Kitty Mat offers her the comfort she needs for her tired bones, and a way to get off the wooden floor onto a softer padded surface. The Thermo kitty mat placed on top of a lounge cushion quickly became her coveted sleeping spot as the weather begins to turn colder. She regularly climbs onto the cushion and rests upon the soft faux lambskin covered mat.

With a dual thermostat and a removable heater, the Thermo Mat provides the perfect place for her.

The plug tucks conveniently out of the way removing the temptation that dangling electrical cords sometimes present to curious kitties. Unlike some heated cat beds, the Thermo Kitty Mat draws a low enough current (only 4 watts) to allow the plug to stay cool to the touch, even after being plugged in for weeks at a time.

The Thermo Kitty Mat is a 12.5� x 25� flat mat covered by faux lambskin cover. The cover is removable and machine washable. The mat is designed to not draw heat until a heat source touches it. So when she moves off the pad, the pad will slowly cool down until she returns.

Although recommended for indoor use only, K & H Manufacturing also offers heated outdoor beds for cats and dogs, thermal pads that fit inside kennels, carriers and Igloo dog houses.

My indoor cat is so grateful for this new warm spot that I will soon be purchasing two outdoor kitty beds, for my two barn cats who don�t wish to become house cats but instead spend the majority of time in the barn or on the back porch.

Some window perches for cats are cumbersome to put up. You need tools to put them up, and in using some of these tools, you are left with unsightly holes in your wall, window frame or sills. A new type of free-supporting window perch has become available at www.kittycot.com .  The perch is made of light-weight, durable, long-lasting plastic pipe. Instead of sheepskin, or cloth for the hammock, kitty cot instead uses a much more desirable material waterproof textilene fabric. Able to withstand the “claw assault” and easy to wipe away any stains, the textilene fabric was a hit with the Miller crew. 

Installation couldn’t be simpler. The perch adheres to your window with heavy duty suction cups. Two stainless steel support cables with suction cups on the end help to level out the placement of the perch and provide added support. For outdoor kitties, the kitty cot is water and weather resistant. Measuring 24”x16” the kitty cot will safely hold up to a twenty pound kitty. To help the perch adhere to the window better, I suggest you clean the window and the suction cups with rubbing alcohol, otherwise, your kitty might go for a bit of a slide if he happens to be a bit chubby. I found that out when my Maine Coon cross decided to try the perch before it was ready. (No kitties were hurt in the testing of this product).  My crew loves this perch, especially when the temperature outside starts to climb. They find the coolness of the hammock comforting and I am often witness to a cat being bumped off his sleeping spot by another who wants his turn. If you have more than two cats, I suggest you buy several of these kitty cots.  

Because you can place these kitty cots anywhere on a large window, your cat is afforded a view of the world outside that would only be possible from a more expensive kitty condo. To add to the attraction, hang a birdfeeder outside the window and give your cat double the entertainment. My crew gave this product an enthusiastic reception.
